Fall rant

This is basically a simple rant. Continue at your own peril!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I live in the Pacific Northwest which means the rain has started, and the blaring sun has finally decided to hide behind the clouds (like it should). It's hoodie weather; it's curl-up-under-a-comfortable-blanket-while-watching-TV weather; it's hot drink weather. (I admit it, I'm an indoorsy type of person (most of the time)). There's also oktoberfest, I don't drink, but I do like bavarian food. However there's also a darker side to Fall.

The smells

Fall brings all sorts of artificial smells that gag me. For most of the year I only have to plug my nose while walking past Abercrombie, but this time of year I also have to watch out for Yankee Candle, Bath & Body Works etc. - Any place that sells pumpkin, cinnamon, candy corn - smells.

The flavors

I admit that this is an irrational frustration, but I've got news for you - pumpkins don't really taste like that! In fact pumpkins don't really taste like anything. Ginger, clove and cinnamon, that's what your're tasting. And I concede that some places do market their trendy-hipster flavors as pumpkin spice, but there's still no excuse for the amount of things that have been flavored. There's pumpkin flavored pop-tarts, coffee, bagels, muffins, tea... Enough is enough, it's not even that good!

That's it, I'm done now, and I feel better. Thanks for reading my rant and hopefully agreeing with it.
